In autumn 2008, after two decades of experience building and managing security and productivity solutions in business computer networks, Susan Tagliaferri and Brett Conlan, two former students who met at Southern Connecticut State University, began Community Card File on a strong desire to build a web service especially designed for small businesses serving local markets. The internet domain communitycardfile.com was registered on December 5, 2008 and the organization Community Card File LLC incorporated early in 2009. The company is based in East Hampton, Connecticut, USA with associates and organizations from the United States and Europe contributing artistic and technical components to the service.
